1st Luminous Mystery
John is baptizing in the Jordan proclaiming a baptism of repentance.
“I am the voice of one crying in the desert, make straight the way of the Lord.”
“One mightier than I is coming after me.”
“I have baptized you with water, He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Seeing Jesus, John exclaims: “Behold the Lamb of God.”
After Jesus’ baptism a voice from Heaven: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
The Spirit descends upon Jesus in the form of a dove.
In this heavenly manifestation is instituted the sacrament of baptism.
The divine Trinity is manifested: the voice of the Father is heard as the Spirit descends upon the Son.
Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert for 40 days.
October is the month of the Rosary and to celebrate I’m going to meditate each day on one mystery at a time. We have just spent a week contemplating the Joyful Mysteries , the Sorrowful Mysteries , the Glorious Mysteries. Now we are going to pray the Luninous Mysteries .
We begin by
Making the Sign of the Cross
Oh thou oh Lord shall open my lips
And my tongue shall announce thy praise
Incline unto my aid oh God
Oh lord make haste to help me
Then say the Creed
Our Father … Hail Mary (x10) … Glory be … O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those who have most need of thy mercy.
